Whisky Revolution: Father-Son Duo Brings Tech Twist to Scotland’s National Drink
In a bold move to transform the world of whisky ownership, a father-son team from Aberdour, Scotland, is set to revolutionize the industry with their innovative platform, Meta Dram. David and Steven Coutts, the masterminds behind this venture, aim to offer enthusiasts the chance to own, trade, and sell unique whisky releases, combining their passion for Scottish heritage, history, whisky, and technology.
Whisky barrels
Their inaugural release, the Echelon Spitfire landmark edition, is an Orkney cask strength single malt that has been matured for 15 years. This exceptional whisky commemorates the 257 Spitfires lost during the Battle of Britain in 1940, with each bottle telling the documented story of a specific aircraft.
“For David and me, Meta Dram was born out of our deep love for Scottish heritage, history, whisky, and technology. This combination felt like the perfect synergy.” - Steven Coutts
Through their partnership with the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, Meta Dram will donate a portion of the proceeds from every Landmark bottle sold to the charity.

The innovative platform will tokenize new whisky releases, allowing enthusiasts to buy, sell, and trade the spirit, creating a community of ‘Meta Drammers’ who share the company’s passion for whisky.
Whisky bottles
When a new whisky is released, it will be available in cask form, and potential buyers can purchase a share of the whisky in the form of a token, representing 70cl (standard bottle) of the whisky. As the whisky matures, the value may change, and buyers can elect to sell, trade, or keep their share.
The Echelon Spitfire landmark edition is now available for purchase at www.metadram.co.uk.
Whisky and technology
Meta Dram’s innovative approach is set to redefine whisky ownership, and their commitment to honoring significant landmarks and events in history will undoubtedly resonate with whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
