Celebrating National Pet Day at J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery
As a whisky enthusiast and animal lover, I couldn’t be more excited to share the wonderful festivities happening at J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery in honor of National Pet Day this April 13th. The Frankfort-based distillery is pulling out all the stops with not just one, but two new whisky releases and a heartwarming on-site festival that is sure to delight both whisky connoisseurs and pet enthusiasts alike.
Festival Fun and New Releases
The highlight of the celebration is the National Pet Day festival taking place right at the distillery grounds. Attendees can look forward to a day filled with joy, starting with delicious treats from Buddy Love’s Food Trailer. But the real stars of the show are the adorable animals from the Anderson County Humane Society who will be present for adoption. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet your new furry best friend while enjoying the festivities.
And let’s not forget the main attraction – the two new whisky releases from J. Mattingly 1845. First up, we have the RuhRoh Rye Whiskey, a nod to the beloved Scooby Doo. This rye whiskey, aged for nearly five years, boasts a delightful blend of orange and citrus jam, leathery oak, and caramel with baking spices. The label features two feline inspectors, MJ and Benny, named after Mattingly ancestors, adding a personal touch to the release.
Next on the lineup is the CIB Bourbon 2024, the latest addition to the Combat Infantry Badge series. This six and a half year old bourbon, bottled at 116 proof, offers a rich flavor profile of brown sugar, banana, smoke, sweet tobacco, spice, and oak. With only a limited number of bottles available, whisky enthusiasts are in for a treat.
Giving Back on National Pet Day
What truly warms the heart is J. Mattingly 1845’s commitment to giving back. In line with the spirit of National Pet Day, a portion of the sales from each bottle of CIB Bourbon will be donated to the Forgotten Coast K9 organization. This noble cause helps match veterans and first responders with service dogs, providing invaluable support and companionship. By supporting this initiative, whisky lovers can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who have served our country.
