The Whisky World Awakens: A New Era of Excellence
The world of whisky has been abuzz with excitement as two iconic distilleries, Rosebank and Bimber, have made a triumphant return to the scene. After years of anticipation, Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk has finally reopened its doors to visitors, offering a world-class visitor experience that is set to stimulate tourism and boost the local economy. Meanwhile, Bimber Distillery in London has launched the sixth release of its celebrated Spirit of the Underground Collection, featuring four new single cask releases that celebrate the sporting excellence of London’s iconic locations.
Rosebank Distillery: A Phoenix Rises
The ‘Sleeping Giant of Scottish Whisky Distilleries’ has awoken, and it’s a momentous occasion for whisky enthusiasts worldwide. Rosebank Distillery, previously thought to be lost forever, has been meticulously restored by Ian Macleod Distillers, retaining its original features while incorporating contemporary elements. The newly restored distillery offers a world-class visitor experience, complete with immersive animations, detailed explorations of the distillery and still house, and the opportunity to taste Rosebank’s new make spirit and award-winning expressions from sister distilleries Glengoyne and Tamdhu.
The Rosebank Revered tour, priced at £300, is a must-visit for true whisky aficionados, offering a tutored tasting of three ultra-rare and specially selected Rosebank expressions. The distillery’s original mill, dating back to 103 years ago, has been retained and continues to be used in the production of Rosebank’s whisky, just as it did over 30 years ago.
Bimber Distillery: Celebrating Sporting Excellence
Bimber Distillery has launched the sixth release of its acclaimed Spirit of the Underground Collection, featuring four new single cask releases that pay homage to London’s iconic sporting locations. Each expression has been matured in a combination of American and European oak, spending over three years in the second cask to masterfully weave both wood styles together. The result is a series of double cask expressions that showcase the distillery’s naturally fruit-forward spirit style.
The collection, which will total 44 individual releases, celebrates the heritage and diversity of London, with each bottle featuring a different Tube station on the London Underground network. The sixth release is a testament to the distillery’s commitment to innovation and quality, with each expression carefully crafted to tease out new aromas and flavors from the twin-cask approach.
A New Era of Excellence
The reopening of Rosebank Distillery and the launch of Bimber’s Spirit of the Underground Collection mark a new era of excellence in the world of whisky. As we look to the future, it’s clear that these two iconic distilleries are set to leave a lasting impact on the industry. Whether you’re a seasoned whisky connoisseur or just discovering the world of whisky, these developments are sure to excite and inspire.
