The House of Suntory Unveils Exclusive Yamazaki and Hakushu Kogei Collection
The House of Suntory, renowned for its Japanese whisky, has launched its inaugural global travel retail exclusive Yamazaki and Hakushu Kogei Collection (2024 Japanese Kimono Edition). This limited-edition collection is a testament to the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship, beauty, and creativity.
The Art of Traditional Japanese Craftsmanship
The word ‘Kogei’ translates to ’traditional Japanese craftsmanship.’ This collection celebrates the art of Japanese craftsmanship through partnerships with selected artisans. The result is a unique fusion of peated malt and Spanish oak, showcasing the best of Japanese whisky-making.
A Collaboration of Art and Whisky
The debut 2024 Japanese Kimono Edition was created in collaboration with Chiso, Kyoto’s preeminent Kimono House, which has been crafting the finest Japanese kimonos since 1555. Chiso’s pattern-makers used the traditional method of Bokashi-zome (gradation dyeing) to infuse the story of the House of Suntory into the bottle labels and outer packaging.
Unveiling the Designs
The Yamazaki packaging features intricate prints inspired by the serene Yamazaki distillery, with the depiction of three merging rivers evoking a sense of calmness. Gold accents, reminiscent of drifting clouds, add elegance. The Hakushu packaging mirrors the Japanese Southern Alps that surround the Hakushu distillery, featuring silver stamping designed to evoke forest clouds and delicate kimono threads.
