Heaven Hill Unveils Grain to Glass Series: A New Era in Whiskey Production
In a move that’s been eight years in the making, Heaven Hill has finally unveiled its Grain to Glass Series, a new line of whiskeys that takes the concept of “farm to table” to a whole new level. This innovative series is the brainchild of Heaven Hill Executive Chairman Max Shapira, who partnered with Beck’s Hybrids, a seed company with a history dating back to 1937, to create a truly unique whiskey experience.
A new era in whiskey production
The Grain to Glass Series is all about transparency and control. Heaven Hill’s master distiller works with Beck’s Hybrids each year to choose a distinctive corn seed, which is then grown at Peterson Farms in Nelson County, Kentucky. This level of control allows Heaven Hill to craft an innovative product that takes the whiskey from seed to aged liquid, all while remaining true to the values and legacy of Heaven Hill Distillery.
The series includes three whiskeys: a bourbon, a wheated bourbon, and a rye whiskey. Each whiskey has its own unique mashbill and flavor profile, showcasing the versatility and expertise of Heaven Hill’s master distillers.
Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Bourbon
The Grain to Glass Bourbon is distilled from a mashbill of 52% corn, 35% rye, and 13% malted barley and bottled at 107 proof. On the nose, the bourbon offers orchard fruit aromas, fresh oak, and a hint of spice. The palate features more orchard fruit, floral qualities, and a peppery kick, finishing with an oaky sweetness and a hint of pepper.
A bourbon like no other
Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Wheated Bourbon
The Grain to Glass Wheated Bourbon is bottled at 121 proof and features a mashbill of 52% corn, 35% wheat, and 13% malted barley. The nose is filled with aromas of walnuts and almonds, wheat bread, oak, and cedar. The palate is rich and complex, with flavors of molasses, toasted whole wheat bread, and a peppery kick, finishing with pepper that fades into oak tannins and molasses.
A wheated bourbon that’s full of surprises
Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Rye Whiskey
The Grain to Glass Rye Whiskey is bottled at a hefty 123.2 proof and features a mashbill of 63% rye, 24% corn, and 13% malted barley. The nose is filled with toasted oak aromas, dried grasses, and flowers. The palate is complex and spicy, with flavors of cigar tobacco, big caramel, and butterscotch, finishing with campfire smoke, charred oak, and cinnamon.
A rye whiskey that’s full of fire
The Grain to Glass Series is a game-changer in the world of whiskey production. It’s a testament to Heaven Hill’s commitment to innovation and quality, and a must-try for any whiskey enthusiast.
The Defining Quality of Russell’s Reserve Whiskey
Russell’s Reserve is a name that’s synonymous with quality and excellence in the world of whiskey. For over 20 years, Jimmy and Eddie Russell have been crafting exceptional bourbons and ryes that defy age. Their latest release, Russell’s Reserve 15 Year Old, is a limited-edition offering that pushes the boundaries of extended aging.
A bourbon that’s full of surprises
This bourbon is a tribute to Jimmy Russell’s 45th anniversary as Master Distiller, and it’s a fitting tribute. The barrels that make up this small batch release were hand-selected by the Russells from the “center cut” of the warehouses, where the whiskey is aged to perfection. The result is a bourbon that’s full of flavor and complexity, with aromas of dried fruit, caramel, nutmeg, oak, and clove.
The palate is rich and complex, with flavors of spiced fruits, cherry, molasses, coffee, mature oak, and tobacco. The finish is long and satisfying, with hints of dark cocoa, caramel, and more of the barrel character. It’s a bourbon that’s best enjoyed neat, but a drop or two of water can bring out more of those fruity characteristics.
Russell’s Reserve 15 Year Old is an exceptional bottle and an exciting new chapter in the distillery’s award-winning history. It’s a testament to the Russells’ expertise and dedication to quality, and a must-try for any whiskey enthusiast.
