The Blue Run Flight Series is a micro-batch collection that showcases the blending skills of Gammon. For the second iteration of the series, Gammon blended three to four barrels of the signature High Rye Bourbon into six unique batches. This means that each bottle in the series will have a distinct character, making it a truly unique experience for whiskey enthusiasts.

Joshua Tree Sunrise: A Bourbon Worth Swooning Over
I had the privilege of sampling one of these batches, called Joshua Tree Sunrise, and I must say, it’s an exceptional bourbon. Bottled at cask strength of 117 proof, Joshua Tree Sunrise is a force to be reckoned with. Despite the high ABV, the bourbon doesn’t feel overly hot, instead, it’s rich and complex.
A Nose That’s Full of Fruit and Grain
The nose is rich with fruit and grain notes, with very little alcohol burn. The palate opens up with cinnamon, honey, and brown sugar, before developing into flavors like blackberry, green apple, vanilla, caramel, and espresso. There’s a subtle rye element present, although the mashbill remains a mystery. The finish is long and satisfying, with a combination of black pepper and butterscotch hard candy lingering on the palate.
