Steph Curry’s New 15-Year-Old Bourbon: Worth the NBA Salary?
When NBA superstar Steph Curry released his first Gentleman’s Cut bourbon last year, whiskey enthusiasts were abuzz with excitement. However, our verdict was that the whiskey, while not terrible, was a bit young and green on the palate, and maybe a little overpriced at $80 a bottle. Fast forward to today, and Curry has announced a new Gentleman’s Cut bourbon that blows that price point out of the water: the 15-year-old Player Exclusive, which comes with a staggering $4,500 price tag.
The art of aging whiskey
We haven’t had the chance to sample this whiskey yet, but it’s hard not to wonder if it’s worth the hefty price. After all, you can find a bottle of Knob Creek 15 or IW Harper 15 for around $100, and even the excellent Remus Gatsby Reserve is less than $300. So, what makes Player Exclusive so special?
According to a rep for Boone County Distilling Co., the Kentucky-based distillery behind Gentleman’s Cut, this whiskey was distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2020. The mashbill is 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, edging it into the high-rye bourbon category.
Steph Curry’s passion for whiskey
While we can’t vouch for the quality of Player Exclusive just yet, we do know that Curry’s passion for whiskey is genuine. As a basketball legend, he’s used to pushing boundaries and striving for excellence. Will his latest whiskey release live up to the hype? Only time (and a taste test) will tell.
The intersection of whiskey and sports
In the meantime, we can’t help but wonder what makes a whiskey worth $4,500. Is it the aging process? The quality of the ingredients? The prestige of the brand? Whatever the reason, one thing is certain: Player Exclusive is a whiskey that’s sure to spark conversation and debate among whiskey enthusiasts.
The whiskey connoisseur’s dilemma
So, is Player Exclusive worth the NBA salary? We’ll have to wait and see. But one thing is for sure: this whiskey is going to be a game-changer.
