Sagamore Spirit: The Rye Whiskey That’s Redefining Transparency in the Industry
As a whiskey enthusiast, I’ve always been drawn to distilleries that prioritize transparency. There’s something refreshing about knowing exactly where your whiskey comes from, and Sagamore Spirit is one distillery that’s leading the way.
Founded by Kevin Plank, the former CEO of Under Armour, Sagamore Spirit has been open about sourcing whiskey from the start. But their newest release is something special - a 100% in-house distilled rye whiskey that’s setting a new standard for the industry.
A glimpse into the Sagamore Spirit distillery
Sagamore Spirit’s story begins in 2013, when Plank and his business partners set out to create a distillery that would focus solely on rye whiskey. And focus they did - the distillery has been distilling whiskey onsite since 2017, with a blend of high and low-rye whiskeys that make up their core product. But what sets them apart is their commitment to transparency.

Their new Small Batch Rye Whiskey is a game-changer. A blend of the same mashbills aged for four to six years, this whiskey is 100% distilled in Baltimore, and it’s a real showstopper. With a rich, spicy flavor profile and a smooth finish, it’s clear that Sagamore Spirit is onto something special.
Tasting notes: rich, spicy, and smooth
As someone who’s passionate about whiskey, it’s refreshing to see a distillery that’s committed to transparency and quality. Sagamore Spirit is setting a new standard for the industry, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what they do next.
