Sandkheg’s Hide, the latest release from Lillard’s spirits company Find Familiar Spirits, is a custom-blended small-batch bourbon that’s sure to delight both whisky enthusiasts and D&D fans alike.

Lillard founded Find Familiar Spirits with screenwriter Justin Ware and Blue Run Spirits cofounder Tim Sparapani acting as an advisor. The company has been making waves in the spirits world with its unique, fantasy-inspired releases. The latest addition to the family, Sandkheg’s Hide, is a bourbon that’s steeped in the lore of Critical Role, a popular Dungeons & Dragons-inspired web series.
According to the press release, the name Sandkheg’s Hide is inspired by the animated series, specifically the world of Vox Machina, Campaign 1. In this fantasy world, Sandkheg’s Hide is a fierce alcoholic beverage produced in the deserts of Marquet from the acidic bile of a sandkheg, an 8-foot tall insectoid creature. The label and packaging of the bourbon are designed to evoke this world, complete with a coin tied around the neck in a burlap bag and a “found” journal that tells the backstory of the whisky.
