Rabbit Hole Distillery Unveils Its Rarest Whiskey Yet: Mizunara Bourbon

Rabbit Hole Distillery has announced the second release of Mizunara, a 15-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon finished in rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks. This latest release is part of Rabbit Hole’s Founder’s Collection, a series of rare and expensive whiskeys.

The finest Japanese Mizunara Oak

According to Rabbit Hole Distillery founder and Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Famer Kaveh Zamanian, the idea behind Mizunara was to create something special to honor the mystique and beauty of Hokkaido’s oak trees. Zamanian chose barrels from his personal collection of Kentucky straight bourbon, each aged to perfection for 15 years, and finished them in casks made of the finest Japanese Mizunara Oak for more than 11 months.

“For years, I’ve been fascinated by the terroir and traditions of fine whiskey making. When I finally got my hands on a handful of elusive casks from a small family-owned cooperage in Japan, I knew I wanted to create something special to honor the mystique and beauty of Hokkaido’s oak trees.”

This special edition whiskey exemplifies the innovation and creativity that goes into each of Rabbit Hole’s Founder’s Collection releases, and the distillery is proud to share this masterpiece with collectors who favor one-of-a-kind whiskeys.

Rabbit Hole Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky

The 2024 release of Mizunara comprises only 2,200 bottles, which will be available for purchase at the Rabbit Hole Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, and in select U.S. markets. A limited number of bottles are available for purchase through Rabbit Hole’s website.
