New Riff Distilling Gives Back to Community with Park Dedication and 2024 Whiskey Releases

In a heartwarming display of community support and environmental consciousness, New Riff Distilling recently celebrated Earth Day by dedicating a new park and unveiling their latest spirits. The event, which took place at Green Valley Pond in Newport, marked a significant milestone for both the distillery and the local community.

The park dedication was made possible through the funds raised from the sales of New Riff’s Silver Grove commemorative edition whiskey. According to New Riff president Mollie Lewis, the decision to support the Silver Grove community was a natural extension of the distillery’s commitment to philanthropy.

“When we built our new barrel warehouse in Silver Grove in 2022, we knew we wanted to support that community through our philanthropic efforts like we do Newport,” Lewis stated in a press release. The success of the 2023 Silver Grove release allowed New Riff to donate $16,830 to the foundation, paving the way for further collaborations with the 2024 releases.

The Silver Grove Community Foundation utilized the donations to complete the initial phase of improvements around Green Valley Pond, including the installation of benches made from recycled plastic, trash bins, and a message board. Future plans involve the development of a recreational trail around the pond, connecting it to existing sidewalks and enhancing the area’s recreational offerings.

New Riff’s Silver Grove whiskey pays homage to a historic whiskey released under the same name in the 1930s. Co-founder Jay Erisman highlighted the significance of the Silver Grove releases, describing them as a blend of tradition and innovation that reflects both the distilling heritage of the region and New Riff’s forward-looking approach.

The 2024 Silver Grove Bourbon, characterized by its notes of dark red fruits and rye spices, will be available for purchase at New Riff’s gift shop starting April 23. Assistant head distiller Bryon Martin praised the bourbon’s complex flavor profile, which includes hints of dark brown sugars, wood spices, and tannins, bottled at 116.2 proof.

In addition to the bourbon, New Riff introduced the Silver Grove Rye, featuring bold flavors of mint, black pepper, citrus, caraway, and oak. The rye boasts a cinnamon spiciness, vanilla undertones, and a rye-spice finish with mineral and eucalyptus notes, bottled at 116.4 proof.

Both the 2024 Silver Grove Bourbon and Silver Grove Rye will be priced at $55.99 and will continue to contribute to the Silver Grove Community Foundation’s initiatives.
