Glencadam Distillery: A New Era of Whisky Excellence
Highland scotch whisky distillery, Glencadam, has embarked on an exciting new chapter with the groundbreaking of its state-of-the-art visitor center and VIP suite. Founded in 1825 by George Cooper, Glencadam has contributed significantly to blends, particularly Stewart’s Cream of the Barley. However, since its purchase by Angus Dundee in 2000, the distillery has shifted its focus towards producing exceptional single malt bottlings.
Glencadam Distillery’s rich history
The new visitor center, slated to open in summer 2025, will boast a retail space, tasting rooms, a cafe, a whisky lounge, and a function suite for private use. The architectural features of the distillery will be incorporated into the design, ensuring that the famous pagoda roofs (or Doig Ventilators) are reimagined as skylights, preserving the distillery’s heritage.
“Much work has gone into developing plans to craft an immersive visitor experience suited to both our historic distillery and the vibrant community which surrounds it.” - Gary Milligan, Project Manager of the new visitor center at Glencadam Distillery
Glencadam Distillery has consistently blended tradition with modernity. In 2021, a replica of the distillery’s original waterwheel was installed, functioning just as it would have in 1825. The whisky-making process at Glencadam remains steadfastly traditional, with the whisky being hand-crafted.
