Celebrating a Decade of Whisky Excellence: Archie Rose Unveils Single Cask Whisky Series

As I sit down to write about Archie Rose’s latest release, I am filled with excitement and anticipation. The Australian distillery is celebrating 10 years of whisky production, and what better way to mark this milestone than with the launch of their Single Cask Whisky Series?

This new series is a testament to the distillery’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Each whisky in the series has been hand-selected by the distillery team from their 35,000 casks, showcasing the exceptional skills of the production team.

“These single casks are carefully selected because we found something truly remarkable in them,” says Dave Withers, Master Distiller at Archie Rose. “A quality that could not be diluted by other high-quality casks in a blend. Each one of these single casks had to be bottled on its own to let its beauty shine.”

“Respect for ingredients has always been at the heart of what we do, and these single-cask whiskies are the purest expression of those ingredients.” - Will Edwards, Founder of Archie Rose

The first three releases in the series are a Smoked Rye Malt Whisky, a Heritage Rye Malt Whisky, and a Single Malt Whisky. Each one is a masterpiece, with its own unique story and flavor profile.

The Smoked Rye Malt Whisky, for instance, is made from NSW heritage rye grain, smoked with sustainably harvested Australian native stringybark, and matured in second-fill French oak. The result is a balance of sweetness, smoke, and spice, with flavors of campfire, grilled peaches, and prosciutto.

The Heritage Rye, on the other hand, utilizes a heirloom Riverina rye grain and is fully matured in an Australian apera cask. The result is an earthy, fresh rye bread aroma, with toasty, biscuity sweetness and a spicy finish.

Last but not least, the Single Malt is made with Archie Rose’s six-malt steam production process, aged in an apera cask. The four-and-a-half-year-old whisky offers flavors of sweet raisins, strawberries, and pineapples, with layers of malt, roasted almonds, espresso, and cacao.
